Captain Norvel Orazio, Commander
Captain Norvel Orazio is the Commander
of the New Orleans Police Department's First District. Captain
Orazio was appointed as the District Commander by Superintendent Edwin P. Compass,
III on May 24, 2002. As the District Commander, Captain Orazio is responsible
for the delivery of all police services for the District, including response to
calls for service, follow-up investigations, crime prevention and quality of life
services.
Captain Smith is a 25 year veteran of
the New Orleans Police Department. At the time of his appointment as First District
Commander he was the commander of the Department's Records Division. Captain
Orazio has previously served in the Criminal Investigation Division, the First
District, and the Fifth District.
